We hired Poppy for 6 nights in May. On arrival impressed at how lovely the boatyard is kept. Our boat was immaculate and very well equipped, also lots of storage room. En route TV reception was variable but mobile 4G ok. The tuition through the first lock by Stuart was excellent and I was soon putting it into practice at the next lock. My husband was in charge of the boat and I did the locks. There are daily checks, oil, water and grease but easy to do. We are in our 70s and although it was physically challenging at the locks I actually enjoyed it. I was glad of guidance from the volunteers at Three Locks just to confirm we were doing it correctly. It was cold and windy for our first few days and needed several layers as standing at the rear steering was chilly. We had the central heating on and the boat was cosy and warm. There are lots of green spaces and parks along the canal and plenty of people on the tow path and other boaters saying hello. There are several pubs along the canal, we had lovely Sunday carvery at Pear Tree Bridge Inn. I was surprised how many of the moored boats are houseboats, some are stunning. We travelled to Stoke Bruerne, moored below the 7 locks and I walked up to the canal village, it took about 20mins. It is worth visiting the museum and having a coffee too. The weather improved on our return journey and it was lovely gently steering the boat along the canal, listening to the bird song and spotting the wildlife. Our return handover was easy, the staff are really helpful and friendly. We thoroughly recommend Wyvern Shipping if you are considering a narrowboat holiday.

Great holiday even with a couple of rainy days! Interesting using the locks and lovely to stop at the pubs en route. The globe is fantastic with friendly staff and great food. The Three Locks and The Navigation are also lovely but only stopped for a drink. Gifford Park was cheap and cheerful and a great to place to moor to fill up water and get rid of your rubbish!! Overall a fab break!

What a fantastic way to spend a week with the family. I don't think I've ever had a holiday where I've cleared my mind so quickly. The boat was very well equipped, superbly maintained and had everything we needed for a wonderful holiday.

My wife and I agreed to come to the UK from the USA to attend my nephew’s wedding before the pandemic occurred. Wishing to avoid hotels and contacts with large numbers of people our intention was to rent a camper van (motorhome). Ageism stepped in and I was refused a rental as I was deemed to be too old. My solution was to rent a narrowboat for two weeks. After some trepidation my wife proved herself to be an excellent helms woman. We had a great time and we’re coming again in 23 for three weeks. We found the Grand Union both peaceful and interesting, and we found other boaters who provided great encouragement to my wife a very pleasant surprise. Keep up the good work Wyvern.

An excellent long weekend holiday for my wife, two grandchildren and me. Four stars, not five, as it was fairly expensive, but nevertheless highly recommended. The boat was comfortable, clean and well stocked and we were given comprehensive operating and safety instructions.
