How do you determine the length of treatment needed for a patient?

We assess each patient on an individual basis and develop a treatment plan based on their specific needs and goals. The length of treatment can vary depending on the severity of the issue and progress made during therapy. We work with each patient to ensure they receive the appropriate amount of therapy needed for their recovery.

What is your approach to involving parents or guardians in the treatment process?

We believe that involving parents or guardians in the treatment process is crucial for the success of therapy. This review is of Dr Catriona Mackintiosh. Firstly some background: my daughter has a brain injury and wanted to disengage from the professional trusteeship of Irwin Mitchell. Dr Catriona Mackintosh was retained to assess my daughter's capacity to make this decision. After speaking to Dr Catriona Mackintosh for two hours my daughter was told that she would never have capacity to make this decision and therefore would never be able to leave the trusteeship of Irwin Mitchell. If you read the guidelines on capacity decisons this is one of the few things that actually cannot be stated by the examining psychologist as they are reviewing capacity for this decision only, not for the entire lifetime of the person being assessed. I put in a complaint to IM about Dr Mackintosh as I couldn't proceed with one through a professional body before I had done that. Irwin Mitchell Trustees repeatedly assured me that they had forwarded my complaint to Dr Catriona Mackintosh but despite my repeated queries I never heard back from her. If you are being assessed by Dr Catriona Mackintosh and your wish goes against those of Irwin Mitchell then I would take great care to understand exactly what the outcome of the assessment means to you and to them, before your assessment begins.
