10/10 the best West Indian Food Ive ever had in my life. The Jerk Chicken roti bowl is exceptional - spice is perfect - flavour profile is perfect - chicken is so tender. It beats out all my family recipes! Serving size was perfect for the price. Drink a ‘Very Dark and Stormy’ with your meal - its exceptional.

For their price point I found the food quite disappointing.

Quite disappointed by the food here. I got very excited when I saw a Trinidadian restaurant in the market, and was looking for a taste of the island so I ordered the lamb curry and buss up shut roti. I was warned the food would take a while so that was fine, but for £14 the portion was smaller than I expected, the lamb curry and potato curry side very bland, the roti very thick and I'm fairly sure the coleslaw was off as I've had an upset stomach since.

I had to wait over 30 mins for my food, which turned out to be an incredibly small portion

The steamed salt fish main was the size of a starter and nothing special for the £12+ price - was very surprised at the stinginess. Other options in the market are either much tastier (such as the ceviche or Uzbek dumplings) orprovide more generous portions (or both).

You have to get the west indian rain cocktail!! So strong and naughty, was delicious, I was a huge fan. All of the food was great, I felt a bit bad for the guy because he was run off his feet, you know thats a good sign because so many people wanted the goods! The mac and cheese was amazing, perfectly seasoned. The bake on the side was so saucy and naughty. Vege and rice main was great, fab flavour and the coleslaw was gorgeous. Head to this place! Ya wont regret it!

Visited Mercado Metropolitano last night 10/12/20 and immediately made my way to West Indian Bake Company as I’d heard good things, I have a Caribbean heritage and have had Bake in T&T many a time. I have to say I wasn’t disappointed, really light yet slightly crispy bake, the salt fish was spiced perfectly and the Macaroni pie was amazing. There was a little issue with timings but was handled very well by the manager/owner. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back for Shark and Bake next time.
