I really wanted to like this restaurant. I just couldn't. The atmosphere is faux rustic with a semi-open kitchen. Our original server was sent away by the owner, he kind of took over in an overbearing way, then another waitress came. It was confusing. All the food tastes like wood smoke. It's too much. The drinks were ok. My husband enjoyed his more than I did. Maybe it's just not my cup of tea. Also if you make a reservation, they want a credit card like many restaurants do. Unlike most restaurants, The Wellhouse charges your credit card right away, not just if you are a no-show for your reservation. That started things off on the wrong foot for me.

Went to the WellHouse for a meal. The French guy running the place needs a new job or career probably the most unhelpful waiter ever.... On top of that food was only just warm and the place was cold. We had pre-booked and mentioned that some people in the party were Vegan/Vegetarian one ordered the mushroom burger and asked if we for gluten free bread - which the waiter sighed at and said probably not - let me check. Onto deserts and and then one member asked if they had any Vegen ones at which point he brought out the whole Vegen menu - which had the mushroom burger on - but at £3 cheaper!!! The deserts where also a big problem if you didnt want cream or icecream to the point that one of the party didnt bother as the waiter said it was a waste of time without the cream. Goodluck if you go here....

A magnificent place for enjoying your afternoon tea in a lovely mansion. Spectacular views on vast green fields, friendly staff, delicious scones and a selection of tea. Would you like to have a tea party like in the 19th century? You should definitely visit this place.

My wife and I shared the poterhouse steak, which was cooked over a woodfire and it was excellent! Desserts were good too and the ambience was relaxed and friendly. Parking: Plenty of parking close by, even though a wedding party was going on in the hotel.

Booked this restaurant for a mid-week birthday celebration and it was fantastic. It was a little hard to find (as it is signposted as the cookery school) but once inside the service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing and the ambience is warm and welcoming. The food was amazing; we had arancini balls as a snack, shared charred pork bits and then had a main each. Every course was delicious. It’s not a cheap restaurant but I think it’s good value and the wood fired cookery offers something a bit different to create more of an experience.
