Nice setting, especially outside eating area when weather nice. Food was good and fair price for type of restaurant and although fairly busy food came out quite quickly. Recommend.

Really disappointed. Attended here for Sunday lunch recently. A number of items not available and Sunday lunches were cold when they arrived. Asked them to redo and they were no better! Not cheap either at almost £20 for a Sunday lunch. I think this place has become complacent and needs to pick up its game. We won’t be returning.

Staff seemed annoyed to serve us. We came for lunch on a Sunday, after stopping at the Roman Ruins, and it was an unplanned stop. We sat outside, and drink orders came , and we ordered food, nothing out if the ordinary We ordered the Cambenbert and a pizza and fish and chips. Took 45 minutes to get the appetizer, and 1 hour after that to get our food. A complete water of an afternoon. Would not recommend going on a weekend day.

I've been here twice recently; both occasions were late, sunny, Saturday afternoons, and I'd walked there and back from Lichfield. It's very busy with family and friend groups. The carpark was full, and taxis were pulling-up frequently, dropping off and picking-up. Tables in both gardens were full. There's a patio garden at the front, next to the road, and a larger garden out back. We sat in the latter and admired the view across towards Sutton Park. Mums with kids were on the table next to me, allowing their toddlers to explore the wide expanse of soft grass. Another very large table of a dozen or so, mixed across at least 3 generations, were pretty boisterous but fun and had been there a while judging from the empty glasses they'd accumulated. It was a lovely late Spring afternoon in Central England. Inside was as busy. Service at the bar on both occasions was a challenge, primarily due to the volume of cocktails being ordered. Prices for drinks were above average for Lichfield, but this did not put anyone off enjoying them. I ordered an ale from the two on offer and a Guinness, with the latter poured with no care to let it settle. I'm sure if Guinness was a cocktail, it'd have received a next level of faff and attention on this occasion. We never ate, but food was flying out of the kitchen. The table with toddlers behind us said they'd been waiting a long time for their food, and it arrived just as they complained. What they received they relished. Personally, this pub is not for me, but it's clearly a destination pub for many in the area. Most customers were in their best outfits and would be ready for Broad Street in Birmingham if they chose to venture that way later. I enjoyed my pint in the garden, and the view is pleasant, but it's hectic inside, and I sought something more tranquil when I visited. I will be back, though, and will try the food next time around and maybe remember to take a photo!
