Georges is not worth the price compared to a local Chippie. Chips were only just warm.

Things have changed and no where near as busy as used to be. 30th December visit, cold restaurant and not so cosy. One other table in at 5pm. Took 25 minutes for meals to arrive. Miserly portion of about 25 chips accompanying the cod. Fish was very nice and all was fresh. Apparently, heating had broken! Probably same with chipping machine. Slightly expensive at £15 for Cod and chips.

Just purchased fish & chips and sausage & chips from here this evening and it was disgusting . The fish was cooked god knows how long in advance ,dry and inedible. Didnt realise it had changed hands to the Caudal & Dorsal until I went inside . The decline was noticeable straight away it looked scruffy the floor was messy and dirty . £16.45 for takeaway fish & chips and sausage & chips . Never again another one crossed off the list .

The food was lovely but it was so cold in the pub. Everyone had coats on and we were frozen by the time we left. Talking to the staff this had been going on for some time Which was ridiculous. They also close at 9pm and it would have been nice to stay for a drink after the meal however we were so cold we had to go home, won't be coming back anytime soon.

Always a delight at the Thorn Tree. Portions are plentiful, servers are welcoming, efficient and gracious. What a wonderful time we all had. Ten of us, six adults and four children, seated in a lovely area. My father is in a wheelchair and the entrance, parking and table location were all really good. We had room to manoeuvre without making other guests move chairs, which is becoming rarer. Our server, Grace, embodies her name and was equally as efficient. We all ordered fish and chips with mushy peas, sides of thick bread and butter and even a sneaky order of onion rings. The mushy peas were delicious. The fish batter was light and crispy, the fish tasty. Chips were plentiful and the tartare sauce was amazing. A great meal. We were all looking at each other with wide eyes and smiles. The service was great. Not too quick, not too slow. The desserts really finished us off! My bakewell tart had not been near a microwave, it was beautiful. The apple and caramac crumble was just as good. My sister almost couldn't finish her cinder toffee sundae! In short, we were impressed and making up events to allow us to gather again at The Thorn Tree.
