I had a great experience purchasing a book from Stephen. I had a question about the condition of the book, which he answered right away. He had rated the book very good but it was actually in fine condition. I’m my experience, any time a seller underrates a book you don’t have anything to worry about. This proved to be true. The book arrived quickly and he took great care with the packaging so it arrived safely. I would highly recommend.

I visited Stephen Conway (Bookbinders) Ltd. today whilst in Halifax. Mr. Conway was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about his craft and answered my enquiry about an old book in a respectful and informative manner. Furthermore I was given a tour of the bindery where he himself binds the books. Through his careful explanation of his craft I was able to fully understand the process to do with book binding and the work he does for customers. After viewing the bindery I was shown the adjoining book-shop to the building and bought a rather nice edition of 'Night Thoughts on Life, Death and Immortality by Edward Young, LL.D'' from 1839. Like this book the shop has a collection of well preserved books from the late-18th Century to modern classics (of which there are a great number of signed first editions). As I was about to go Mr. Conway gave me a copy of the Yorkshire Post's The Magazine which featured himself on the front cover with two double page spreads, about the company, on the inside. I was fascinated to hear that Stephen Conway (Bookbinders) Ltd. personally created the design for Margaret Atwood's The Testaments which was featured in 2019 at the Book Prize ceremony. I would hearty recommend any book lovers, museums and galleries, authors or people looking to have books rebound to visit Mr. Conway at Stephen Conway (Bookbinders) Ltd. as I am sure they will receive the same expert experience and knowledge which I received on today's visit.
