Arrived at the hotel 29/04/2023 and we were allocated a room by a member of staff the room smelled but we assumed the room needed airing then the big problem bathroom stank sewage we managed the first night and in the morning ask the staff to change the rooms it was not fit to be let we were told no other rooms available and the room was fine I then asked the member of staff to come with me to look at the mould and damp his opinion the room need a little work! and he was not the manager we waited for the manager she arrived then told us its silicon that we can smell I explain I have been in the building trade for 30 years and know the smell of silicon and then she told my wife we made the smell unbelievable we you hotels all the time and have never met staff like this it is a shame as the food was good and the replacement room ( after we packed our case and put it in the car ) we now know why they insist on payment up front the room name is BARBONDALE if you get allocated this room beware the replacement room was ok other than the cracked sink and tiles

It’s not ok to lock the hotel at 10pm without telling guests beforehand that this is likely - you tell guests about breakfast on check-in so you should tell them about needing a code to get back in. It clearly happens alot - when we did eventually find the manager ‘you were lucky you caught me’ and ‘of course we locked up, there were no customers in the bar’ seemed very well rehearsed retorts - with the implication being that we were in the wrong because we stayed out until ….10.15pm, yes 10.15pm…on holiday! Very poor customer service, we were paying guests not inmates out after curfew.

This is in a fantastic location with exceptional views The room was clean if not a bit tired. The shower doors were not on the rails at the bottom. The television was a good size but we could not get a picture it kept telling us the was no signal from the aerial even though is was connected.the cables were not secured to the wall and would have made a great difference.we did not say anything about the TV as we read. The food was very wholesome and filling. Would recommend bearing in mind the use of the TV may have been user error.
