We came down to Hollingbourne for a weekend break from London and went to have dinner at The Sugar Loaves. We had such a lovely evening - the pub has a beautiful traditional interior and is very well looked after. The food was delicious and they had many classic British favourites. The staff were friendly and welcoming. On top of that, they also dog friendly so our dog Ruby got loads of attention and treats! Would definitely go again on our next city break.

My car had broken down in the area and with several more hours to wait I popped in to the pub for a coffee and warmth. The staff were so accommodating and made me a lovely mocha and some soup. The lady working in there also checked in on my about half an hour of me being there just making sure I was okay. Really helped make a stressful situation a little calmer. Thank you x

Such a lovely place with such friendly staff. However, food was awful. Given that we were one of 2 tables there waiting 40 minutes for food was rather a long time. As a chef myself, waiting that long is not really good, even if everything is cooked to order. I'd say the chefs organisational skills need improving. These dishes can be cooked quicker. The fishermans basket my husband had was cooked to within an inch of it's life. It was hard and dry. My pasta was gelatinous and so overcooked, it should have had a garlic sauce but the sauce tasted of nothing and was an odd consistency. There were no time for complaints as we had to go elsewhere. 2 stars here for how lovely the place and staff were.

Okay, so it's really more of a pub than a restaurant but the owners went out of their way to make us some food and to feel welcome as our first stop in England.

Beautiful, friendly staff. We had our early Christmas meal there. Such wonderful food, drinks and general warmth from everyone in the pub. Nothing was to much trouble and it is a DOG FRIENDLY PUB, whether a pet dog or assistance dog. Well done and thank you for a lovely evening. Highly recommended.
