We stayed here for a night for our 1st wedding anniversary. The Spa and outside hot tubs / swimming pool are amazing! Felt like we were abroad sipping cocktails on a sun lounger around the outside pool. Little drinks /food station by the pool is amazing! Variety of spa facilities are great from saunas to ice plunge. Food for dinner was lovely however wasn’t as keen on breakfast choices. Our room was lovely and great size! A card, chocolates and prosecco was in our room upon check in wishing us a lovely anniversary was a lovely and thoughtful touch. The only negative was that the male receptionist when checking in would direct all questions to my husband. As I am the one who booked our stay I responded instead as my husband as he didn’t have a clue what I had booked us but the receptionist continued to direct his questions and gaze to my husband. Bit of a strange start and felt a bit outdated that the male would have booked the stay etc however once checked in the rest of our stay was brilliant!

We attended the spa. I'll add some context. 1 star is reflective of the fact that this is a very high end spa and I had far higher expectations. This star reflects the difference between my visit yesterday and my previous visits which were a few years ago now, but had a FAR bigger wow factor! So yes, its a nice spa, but in the context of the cost vs the service and customer experience, it was poor. There are very few flavoured waters around now....used to be everywhere and was a wow.....now only at reception or the treatment suite. So that's dull. If you need a solution penny Hill, why don't you have pots where the ice is, for lemon slices? This one made me super annoyed....you now have a disposable, non environmental cup to have coffee in, when in the spa.....no other spa does this! It offends me greatly. I don't want a dose of guilt with my coffee! I asked the staff abut this and the reply was "since covid" well its not covid now! And covid didn't make anyone drop cups! I don't want to sit by a pool feeling like I might as well be at McDonald's! If you need a solution further than grow up and use real cups, or when you send the confirmation email, please also tell us to bring our guilt free cups! I always use them and only didn't bring them as you used to have a phone to ring for orders and then it arrived in real cups! The phone line is still there, but no phone. The day was beautiful weather......yet we couldn't bear to be outside more than 10 mins as there was CONTINUOUS cleaning and pressure washing of the deck area ALL DAY! I am furious about that! So half the spa inaccessible! When we said something at the end of the day, the reply was ,sorry, but we have to do it.....well I accept that, but what I don't accept is that, there were many ways of appeasing this situation.....this company will have been booked to come in, so you could have told us in advance, given us the opportunity for discount as a sorry, or to move, you could have given us a bottle of wine to take home, or you could have given us an extra £20 each to spend on our day.....all of which would have cost you nothing as you mark ups will be massive! There was no fruit around. On all my previous visits there has been apples, adding to the care and wow factor. I wanted to order the chocolate tart after my lunch. Also not available....the lady then said there has been a delivery in so she will check if it arrived.....it had arrived but the "chef" don't want to make the sauce for it. So no, the sweets are not made in site. And despite the spa being incredibly empty, there was still not enough of the menu items to go round. I then had the lemon cake....incredibly dry for lemon cake. Also the clock in the main pool want right so you jad to watch your phone the whole time to ensure you were not late for your treatment... I will give credit where due. The cod was perfectly cooked. All in all, incredibly disappointed and not what I expect of a high end spa.

Lovely spa, lots of rooms to experience, great indoor and outdoor pools. Dinner was fantastic and room gorgeous. Only disappointment was the exercise classes - substitute teacher who was late (but excellent) then at a second class no show teacher and no one from the hotel came to let us know. Would have planned my morning differently if I'd known the class was canceled.

Over hyped for sure with one particular member of staff behind reception who needs to undertake a customer service course! Rude is an understatement and I won't be renewing my membership here. Facilities are good clean and well kept. Food is awful in the spa although I have not tried the Latimer. Now membership has expired and I will not be renewing membership manager hasn't flinched. Talk about bad customer service it's ALL about making money regardless of the experience.
