    Extremely disappointing. I arrived for my spa day today to be told they had no record of my booking, which I had made over the phone several weeks ago. Despite the problem being theirs the ladies on reception couldn't accommodate me, instead they just kept asking who it was who I'd spoken to on the phone. I'm not sure what difference that would have made or whether there was an insinuation that I was somehow at fault, but regardless I will never visit this spa again.

    It's right what people say, waiting at reception for 20 mins, one staff managing the queues of people. The hotel is dirty, I wiped the floor with a wet one, so much dust, hairs and I don't know what. I thought everywhere had to be cleaned regularly due to covid, and that started 2 years ago. There are no slippers for the treatment day, so you are walking around in your outdoor shoes with a robe. The treatment centre opened at 10am, and the bin in the changing room was overflowing with dirty nappies in at 10.30am, so I'm guessing it was there all night. There were dirty towels on the floor in the toilets. I have photos of this, wish I could post them on here. No one was monitoring the relaxation room, so you could of been laying on towels that have already been laid on. Didn't see any staff smile, mind you I probably wouldn't if I worked there. So the only good thing I can say about my gift I was given by my friend was the treatment staff were lovely and did a super job. Would not ever go back.

    Really nice location just outside of Winchester. I went with my husband using a voucher from Virgin experiences. The treatments were amazing and I would highly recommend the face and back ritual. There is a relaxation room that was so peaceful that I haven't seen before at other spas. The other facilities were nice, with sauna, steam room, 2 heated lounge chairs and pool. When we went for lunch, they had no chicken which would've been nice to know when we originally got given the menus. Then they took 45 minutes to bring our food out, which we wouldn't have minded so much if it wasn't for other people getting their food 5 minutes after us even though they'd arrived 30 minutes after we had.

    It is such a same that this hotel situated in beautiful spacious grounds just isn't the place it used to be. Stayed 2 nights with 3 other couples who have also stayed here before and who were also disappointed. There is a list that goes on and on of complaints with a few brighter moments provided by young very help staff who are struggling to cope as 1) there are not enough of them and 2) who are operating a system of sorts without guidance, help and support from senior management (who were not present in the hotel but were otherwise engaged with a wedding party). Definitely not 4*. A few of the problems we encountered were: Lipstick marked glasses provided for G&T afternoon tea (which were returned and replaced again with dirty glasses which were again returned!). No champagne in 3 of the 4 rooms which was part of the package we paid for. Fan heater in room not working, not PAT tested and no reply from reception when we wanted to report it faulty and request another as it was do hot in the room at night. Even the spa staff we given the run around. One young spa staff member had ordered her lunch and went to the bar to get it, to be told to go to the kitchen. At the kitchen she was told to go to the bar. She was frustrated and told the bar staff that she wouldn't have time to eat it if she couldn't locate it because her lunch break would be over. The wedding party were having photos taken out the back of the hotel in beautiful grounds but the flower urns in the grounds, where they were having pictures taken, had weeds growing out of them and not a flower in sight! Some 2 years ago when I visited the hotel I encountered similar issues and located a manager and discussed the hotels shortcomings at that time only to be told that the hotel had recently been taken over and that things would improve. It hasn't. The young staff go out of their way to be as efficient and effective as possible but they are lacking equipment to carry out even basic tasks like not having clean crockery available to them. I think most guests were sympathetic to the difficulties of Covid but really there is no excuse for dirty glasses, etc. Tables remained laiden with dirty crocks and cutlery long after guests had eaten and moved on. Some areas were left overnight and the debris from the day before was still there untouched. If trolleys were placed in strategic areas guests would happily return used items to assist with and help to alleviate the pressure on staff but it seems no one is looking outside the box to remedy some of these basic issues. In our bathroom the bath could not have been cleaned prior to our stay because there was a used HRT patch still in the bath from a previous guest! Not at all satisfactory but particularly so at these times when cleanliness is of paramount importance. I am bored with writing about this tale of woe but I can assure you we will never return.
