Rooms: No functional air conditioning. Instead they have a trip switch on the window. So if you open the window, the air conditioning doesnt work. Staying 4 nights we attempted both strategies. First day we closed the window and left the air conditioning on all day to the coldest setting, we returned that night and the room was STILL hot. On the second day we left the window open all day which disables the air conditioning, we returned yet again to a HOT room. Needed to ask reception for a fan as hot room was impacting our quality of sleep on the second night. I have stayed in better budget hotels that provided better rooms

lovely hotel and staff very attentive. Our room was basic and we can only suggest that there were sockets at the bedside as ours were across the room and inconvenient when charging phones, otherwise, no complaints at all. We paid to upgrade to a room with a view (£15 per night) and were given a room with a tree and a car park view. I quickly raised this with reception and they gave us another room immediately. perfect service. The pillows were way too soft for us so we asked for firmer pillows and within 20 minutes we had them in our room. Food was always hot at the breakfast buffet and eggs were poached at request. no complaints with the food. The hotel is in a prime location, we found it easy to access all of the town on foot. We used the valet service for the car and the guy was polite and friendly. We paid around £300 for the 2 nights and would use this hotel again. I aren't fond of the added extras with the room view charge but we paid it. There were rooms with a balcony next to ours and in the past we would have booked a room with a balcony but are glad that we didn't. I don't recommend them as the balcony is small and not worth the effort. We had our refreshments replenished daily but there weren't any decaffeinated drinks supplied. I drink decaf so bring my own for this reason. they should supply decaf tea as well as regular tea. I would also recommend that they supply the guests with complimentary water in the rooms as I found that I was quite dehydrated after all of the walking and had to pay around £5 for a bottle of water from the bar downstairs. Nearby activities: There are lots of sights to see but we didn't like the fact that you had to pay and book to see some of them. Museums should be free but they were chargeable.
