Perhaps the most welcoming and professional group of people, all working tirelessly to improve the quality and quantity of effective dispute resolution. The courses offered are informative, interactive and I have learned immense amounts that I can bring to my personal and professional life.

Reopening on 12th April 2021 the Society offers world/class mediation training and mediators as well as rooms for COVID-secure meetings. Unsurprisingly it carries my highest recommendation as the mediation charity working not for profit.

I first came across the Society in 2017 when a friend recommended the foundation course in Civil and Commercial Mediation. At the time I couldn’t have anticipated how this would set me on such a rewarding journey but three years later I am not only regularly mediating workplace issues within the civil service, but also mediating and conciliating as a panel mediator for Hunt ADR. The courses are of an exceptional and consistent quality. Furthermore ongoing support from the faculty community, which I now proudly contribute to as tutor and assessor, is exemplary. I have undertaken training and CPD with several excellent providers but with the increasing breadth and depth of experience within Faculty that the Society of Mediators has now built, I am confident in recommending them as a standard bearer for quality and ethics that all should note and aspire to.

I am a trustee of the Society of Mediators and a tutor for students undertaking mediation training. It is so comforting working with the societies high quality of tutors, with vast personal and professional experience, coupled with the desire to teach. I am proud to say it is my opinion the faculty of The Society of Mediators and one of the best available today.

I trained in London with the Society of Mediators in 2018 on a course led by Jonathan Dingle, Andrea Barnes, Steve Malcolm, and Ruby Sandhu. It was fabulous. They took the time to help me build my skills and forget my desire as an NHS Consultant to cure everyone. The process I was taught has been extremely helpful - not only am I now mediating within the NHS and my local community but I use the skills managing my department. I was also impressed with the support and aftercare: the Society's team at 218 Strand helped me get the necessary observations and have kept me in touch with its other work, although I have not been back since then. I did some follow-up with another organisation last year and it was a mistake. They were not in London as you might think and did not appear to be current - certainly not on the same page as current thinking and were very expensive. Just like choosing any service, my advice is to take care and speak to the people concerned before choosing. I am happy to commend the Society and have no hesitation in going back myself.

I undertook my mediation training two weeks before the end of 2019 and what an amazing week of learning it was. To be taught by the very best, in terms of practising and outstanding Barristers and practitioners from all walks of life is one matter initself. But to then discover that they utilise this skillset on a day to day basis and have been champions of this approach for over 15 years is a bonus. My assumptions about what mediation was and is challenged me on so many levels. Be prepared to actively listen, engage and empower others to be solution focused. This is the first step in the right direction. The place to be is, The Society of Mediators. If you want to meet individuals who are warm, friendly and continually open to learning and development, then there is no better place to train.
