Be very wary especially of the insurance package they advise you to buy, no matter what they lose or break you have to have cast iron proof that they have packed it and removed it! Packed boxes with very scant inventory are not sufficient (none of our boxes were marked with a good description of what was in them) , please make sure they write in detail exactly what is in every box! They lost several expensive light fittings of ours and now claim they know nothing about it and the Insurance firm won’t cover it because it wasn’t marked in which box it was packed. I feel very let down by this firm after we paid them thousands of pounds. Please don’t let them let you down, be very aware.

Shires responded quickly to our request for a quotation and visited our home to perform a thorough inspection of the work involved within a few days of our first telephone call. They were friendly and helpful from our first conversation. It was necessary to re-arrange our moving date, but Shires made it very clear that this could be done as long as we knew our deadline for doing so. The team that carried out our job were brilliant! Friendly, careful with our belongings, efficient, and double-checked if in any doubt. All details and procedures were carefully explained to us throughout the process. When the time came to deliver our belongings from storage, Shires were nice again, very accommodating. Some removals firms only perform an evaluation of the job by means of a video call. Shires did a thorough hone visit which is crucial to getting the job right. Nothing was damaged in transit. Everything was delivered with care. The price for the work was very fair considering we were moving a decent distance. I would have complete confidence in using Shires again and would highly recommend them to anyone considering a move. The office team are ALL very helpful and well informed. The removals team that we met were total diamonds. Keep them supplied in tea and a bacon butty and they will look after you! Thanks a million guys and girls.

Our move went well and the staff before and during were actually excellent. Unfortunately the return of our boxes was never administered properly (over 100 boxes so quite a sum of money) and despite numberous requests I received no response. I've had to issue proceedings via 'money claim online' (the small claims division of the County Court) to ge the money back. It seems so totally unneccessary but given the failure to respond I have no alternaitve. Sad really, I had been happy with my move but this is a major failing of the business for us.

The removal team was extremely professional and the lorry used was more than adequate. While they were not the cheapest, the service quality was worth the extra cost as I did not have to worry about how long it would take to pack as a preassessment was done of what was to be moved.

I would not recommend this company. What we received was certainly nothing like what was promised or how we were treated. Moving almost 100 miles and then to be left in an empty house was a terrible way to be treated. We then had to pay AGAIN for our property to be re delivered. The weather was windy but they made the decision to set off and then when the delivery truck had got to our new home they would not wait a further 10 minutes for us to get the keys and unload before they turned back leaving us in an empty house with NOTHING. We were then held to ransom to pay for redelivery to receive our property. The drivers/removal lads were the only ones bothered to apologise, nothing from the owners. My advice is to avoid this company…

We would recommend Shires Removals for their outstanding service. They moved us out of our 4 storey house and put our contents in storage. Nothing was too much trouble for Danny and his team. We expected to use their storage facility for 2-3 months, but due to our original house purchase falling through, this became 15 months. Luckily, the cost of their storage was cheaper than their competitors’ quotes. All of our possessions arrived safely, without a single item damaged. Towels & bedding etc were fresh and dry and didn’t even need washing on arrival. They only charged a small & very reasonable extra amount for the extra mileage to our different house purchase. Danny was also on the lorry that delivered to us (this time with Dave) and again they were really friendly, hard working & helpful. They were very professional, covering all our new carpets before entering the house. Overall 5 star service.
