Didn't eat so can't rate the food but it looked ok when I saw it pass us. Went in after 2 &1/2 hour walk along Tolkien way although this has been redirected to allow for private land owners to remodel the countryside. This, whilst annoying wasn't too bad, a little more barbed wire fencing to negotiate but was more unsightly than unfriendly! The pub was large and with expansive landscaped gardens, beautiful in the 26° heat!

Lovely pub, great food and service. We had the pigs in blankets to share followed by a home cooked Kiev for me and chicken in a cheese and leek sauce for my husband. There was a wedding on in the pub as we arrived so we expected no food, but were delighted when there was and super impressed how smoothly everything ran. The pub is at the start and finish of the Tolkien trail and is in a lovely spot within the village of Hurst Green. Parking: To the side of the pub there is a good sized car park. Wheelchair accessibility: No steps entering the pub, just one door to manoeuvre through and plenty of space between tables to navigate through.

Hotel and restaurant with excellent public bar area in this pleasant rural village. Good quality meals but keep an eye out for the daily specials with a pint. Excellent value at £12:50. (April 2023) Couple of good real ales too. Parking: Lots of space, Bit limited at the front but big area at the back.
