We heard about this place in CAMRA publications, and it sounded like our sort of place. And we weren't disappointed. A great atmosphere and some well kept cask ales. It was on our bus-pub-crawl where we planned on having 1/2 in each, but we were so impressed we stayed for a second.

Vic and her husband hosted the celebration of life for our daughter Bea and I can honestly say they went above and beyond in every area to help us through this terribly sad day. We felt completely cared for and it made a massive difference ! We would highly recommend.

Sorry to say that having popped in to The Ship for a change this Bank Holiday Monday I have to report that we were most disappointed with our value for money food served. A nice pub atmosphere, we sat inside, our drinks and order was taken quickly by the waitress who was pleasant and attentive. We ordered Fish & Chips for the three of us at £16 per portion. The meals arrived 15mins later and to say we were surprised was an understatement. A small cardboard tray each (not a plate) with a small fish and small portion of skins on fries plus a splodge of tartare sauce. Told that they were expecting many people in so no plates being used today. We suggested to two waitresses that the portion was not value for money. A sorry was given but nothing more than that. I trust that the management were made aware and will perhaps take onboard. By the way, a single portion of skins on fries was £4, which really means the fish were £12 each. Come on.

Beautiful pub....the inside is gorgeous. Family friendly, which also serves food. Lovely sun trap beer garden....and a very welcome feel. I would definitely recommend this pub.

Came here for a Sunday lunch and we had the sharer for two. Probably, the best roast we have had ever had, the meat was outstanding and all the veggies well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Well done!

Well....where do I start....this was always my family local and was always the quick pint on the way home from work pub. Since then they have introduced food, serving to a very high standard according to all the reviews. I was looking forward to making time to go for the Highly acclaimed Sunday lunch. However, I found the portion size very small, I had the Chicken and I thought it was very nice but not enough carbs for a diabetic. There was plenty of veg served with it but was 'very' el dente. The wife had Brisket and found it very fatty and stringy. My son (who is a chef) went for the Lamb that was all fat. I am sorry to post this slightly negative review but can only speak as I found. Maybe it was just an off day. I'm just a little disappointed as I had looked forward to it for such a long time.
