We have just come back from an amazing week from this place It was one of those holidays where less is more. The Secret Campsite is more of an experience than a campsite. No light pollution, no cars driving up to neighbouring pitches at midnight, just generously sized pitches that are surrounded by nature in all its glory. We had an excellent service from Tim, the campsite owner, who was very friendly, chatty and helpful. He really has created a magical campsite that steps away from the traditional approach of having a big field with pitches a few feet from each other, but more like a nature reserve with oodles of space to breathe and explore. Come here to detox, to unwind, to disconnect from the noise and stress of life and to connect to nature. The birdsong here is terrific with a dawn chorus that is second to none. Put simply, I loved it here, and it felt like a unique and special place quite different from anywhere I have stayed before.

Food & drinks: We had a lovely pub lunch at the Anchor Inn - we walked there cross country in about 1.5 hours. There are rowing boats to hire on the river in the summer months. Noteworthy details: Peace. Quiet. Campfires. Wildlife (a pheasant visited each every morning). Beautiful pitches that make you feel like you are truly back in nature.

I can't say enough about how Tim, as our camp host, made sure our needs were met and my wife and I were happy campers. Also appreciated there was plenty of space between pitches and campfires allowed, would highly recommend.

Just spent 2 nights at this peaceful campsite with private spot. Tim welcomed us like old friends and was willing to help however he could. He really is a great guy, very generous and friendly. We had a wonderful time on our belated anniversary getaway. Would definitely go again and highly recommend.

Great campsite though busy and a bit loud on the bank holiday weekend. The reception/shop is great for ice lollies. Due to the drought and end of summer the grass didn't really separate you or give you privacy from your neighbours, so go earlier in summer. Great spot for kids to roam and good walks from the campsite to pubs, cafes and farmshops. Even our 4 year old could do one walk without being carried. Stayed in the treehouse, which was a real treat as we didn't have to bring much gear for once!
