Looked very nice and looked very busy especially for a Monday lunch. Yesterday 22nd. We were a party of 12 and all had various choice menu. Cooked very nice but 2 of us We're very disappointed with our steak pie, mash and carrot minus gravy!! When we asked if we could have some gravy we were told we don't do gravy........ I couldnt believe this to be true that they actually serve pie, dry mash without it and get away with it. The service also wasn't particularly good, the lady who served us didn't look very friendly at all. I

Enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast at Ego at the Running Mare whilst in Essex. Busy place with plenty of atmosphere. Drinks arrived quickly but waited a long time for our main courses. It was well worth the wait, though. Roast beef tender and Yorkshire puddings are almost as big as your plate! Creme brulee was slightly split but still a good texture. Couldn't fault the team and service provided....

What a ridiculous place. They wouldn't let me order and pay for my ale at the bar. It was all table service. 14 of us were eating and we had to work out what we had eaten and drunk and pay at the table. Why not let us settle our individual bills at the bar like a normal pub. Forty minutes wait for our food too.
