Food was not nice. Duck terrine and brioche starter was extremely dry and needed a sauce or purée. Lamb main featured rolled lamb shoulder, sliced lamb leg and sliced potatoes and onions cooked in the lamb fat and lamb gravy. All just tasted of lamb, nothing to break the dish accept 3 pieces of raw radish, felt very sick due to all lamb fatty flavour. Had to get veg separate, very expensive for a dish of sugar snaps and peas. Absolutely not what you’d expect from a 2 rosette, was bland and unbalanced. Extremely long wait times, took an hour for main to come after starter. Due to long wait times we asked to have desert in room and was charged £4.50 for this, if known would not have done this. A service charge has been added for £12.61 without warning, would not have paid this as service was below par. Finished our drinks and waited 20 mins before calling someone to the table to order more as no one asked us.

Walked in and immediately thought we were in the wrong place. No one came to greet us, the atmosphere was lacking. Once sat down service was slow even though the restaurant was far from full capacity. The coffee was mediocre at best and the food was underwhelming. Sandwiches were small and lacked anything special. Scones were fine. Dessert was sickly and we found an eyelash in it. Can’t say I would recommend booking this afternoon tea experience, money would be better spent elsewhere.

OK but nothing special. Food wasn't bad but service standards and restaurant atmosphere a bit below what i'd expect for a nice hotel (my partner described it as similar to a hospital cafe!). Glad it was a gift voucher
