This course was absolutely perfect for me as it fitted around my day job, and I could easily manage the course modules, which were down to earth with no nonsense jargon. My Tutor, Steven, was brilliant and helped me with anything I was unsure of in any of the modules. I am so glad that I took this course; it has 100% aided me to further my goal of being a professional photographer and given me the knowledge and skills, not only on a technical aspect but also on the business side too. If you are thinking about taking this course to pursue your dreams... then I can honestly say YES, go for it!

I came to the course never having picked up a 'proper' camera, I used an iPhone, and looking at all the dials and buttons on my DSLR was frightening and confusing. I thought I'd never learn how to use it! The course was challenging, but it was also rewarding and worthwhile. Having the Facebook group to ask questions and get advice and feedback really helped. When I compare the pictures I take now to what I was taking in the beginning, I'm blown away. This course not only taught me fundamentals and helped me narrow down my specialist area, but it also gave me ideas, insights and guidance on what I need to do to create a thriving business in photography.

I started this course with no intentions of being a professional photographer. It has always been my hobby, and I just wanted to learn how to use my camera correctly to get the best photos. After starting this course, it didn't take long to realize that this is the profession I would love to do full-time. The information provided is very easy to understand, and everything is well explained. It makes the learning process very enjoyable. I feel so much more confident using my camera. The assignments after every module give good training - pushing you out of your comfort zone, but at the same time, you get to try the things you just learned. And the assignments are always marked in a very short time - always honest opinion, always explained, giving the feedback that helps your growth. And even though I know - for me there is still a lot to learn and practice - this course gave me the knowledge, self-belief, and willingness to continue learning. And the fact that you can do it any time, any place - is invaluable. I moved countries and continents in the past year after starting this course. It was a very difficult time. There were a few months when I was not able to do anything, but when I finally could, I used the time I had and finished. And I'm so glad I did. If photography is something you love to do - I would highly recommend this course.

I took this course to improve my photography skills, and I believe I have really achieved this. The feedback from the tutors on my various photographic assignments was always very constructive and helpful, offering industry insider tips and advice if I were to pursue a career in photography. It can often be a little daunting to show our creative work, opening it to criticism. Still, the feedback was always encouraging and guided me to reassess and improve wherever necessary. Since starting the course, I have been an assistant photographer at one wedding and the main photographer at another, something which I would not have had the courage to do prior to the course.

I chose this course as a way of learning more about the art and science of photography. It didn't disappoint! There was plenty to read and interesting and varied assignments to complete related to each module. The modules covered some technical detail but were well written and easy to follow. The feedback from my course tutor was especially welcome; it was constructive and encouraging and has helped me improve both technical and compositional elements of my photography. Additionally, the course provides pointers for those wishing to pursue a career in photography. I fully recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn more about photography, either for a career or to further skills in pursuit of a hobby.

I've been interested in Photography for years as a hobbyist and always wanted to take a course, as I felt I lacked the foundations, but I thought this would be a bit tricky as I work full time and have other commitments. Then, with the pandemic, life came to a halt, so I decided to go for it and make the most of this unusual 'free' time. After much research looking into courses I could complete online. I decided to join The Photography Institute as the course seemed unbelievably comprehensive (12 modules no less!) and had such good reviews. I was a bit worried I wouldn't be able to complete the assignments due to the restrictions, but all of them could easily be adapted to the changing situation. From the very first module, I felt I was learning a lot, and I knew straight away that I had made the right decision! All the contents are relevant and well explained, providing you with the necessary foundations to become a professional photographer. I could see my images improve from the very first couple of modules, and I'm now confident to shoot in manual mode, something I had always found too daunting! The course also made me aware of the different types of photography and understand the skills and equipment needed for each of them (I acquired a new lens and a couple of film cameras to experiment with!). The assignments have definitely been demanding but rewarding! I've learned so much in the process, and I always looked forward to receiving my tutor's feedback and starting a new module. If I'm honest, I'm kind of sad the course is over but I'm interested in completing a couple of advanced modules, they all look fantastic! Something that I had been putting off for quite a long time was creating my own portfolio, as I used to find it very challenging. Now I know how to achieve the best results thanks to all the information and handy tips (there is a whole module on this!), and I plan to keep my portfolio up-to-date. I never thought I would consider working as a photographer, but having undertaken the course, I'm now aware of the opportunities and I'm genuinely excited about this possibility. I still cannot believe I've learnt so much in just one year. I'm now planning to do some photography work for a charity in the short term and see how things go... This is just the beginning! Thank you, it has been such a great experience!

I came across the Photography Institute professional photography course when I was looking to change my career path. Although I had studied traditional film photography at school, I had little digital experience and never used post-production software. The PI course is incredibly well written, covering an extensive range of topics and packed with valuable industry insights. My personal tutor was extremely responsive to questions and provided detailed feedback on assignments. Having completed the diploma course, I am now about to start some of the advanced modules with a determination to build a professional folio and launch my own photography business. I had a lot of fun and learned many new things about photography during these months. The course is very well structured, with an initial theoretical framework that introduces you to manual photography. They have the most organised and effective online platform I've experienced. The notions are very well explained and simplified for everyone to understand. Definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys photography and would like to be more aware of what their camera can really do. The Photography Institute offers advanced online-workshop courses in many photographic genres, and I will definitely continue my studies with them. I highly recommend this course to anyone!!!
