This is at least the fourth church on this site the last one being demolished in 1846. Its replacement, a Victorian church built in thirteenth century Early English style, is the building we have today. The architect was Benjamin Ferrey, a pupil of the renowned Augustus Pugin. The reredos was embroidered in plaited straw by a group of parishioners and exhibited a tth London International Exhibition in 1872. The church is open to visitors.
