An extremely good place to go to if you're in the area with two non-communicating areas. The southern-most gets a mixed crowd of older regulars and younger adventurers in search of a 'traditional East End boozer

Nice pub…when it’s open! That’s how my review can be summed up. The first time I went it was charming inside, and has a nice chat with the friendly landlord who has an arsenal of local knowledge and a passion for jazz. The second time I turned up with a couple of friends I had sung the Palm Tree’s praises to only find it was closed, but as we walked away the landlady popped her head out and - with an air of surprise - ushered us in for a drink. I have since been back twice and on both occasions the pub has been shut (lights on inside though) and nobody has come to open after knocking on the door. Maybe the pub isn’t open during the week, but if so they should update the opening times on Google to avoid disappointed customers, because it really is a nice pub when it’s open.
