FAQ

What is the teacher-to-student ratio in your Montessori classrooms?

At The Orange Tree Day Nursery, we maintain a low teacher-to-student ratio in our Montessori classrooms to ensure individual attention and guidance. Our ratio is 1:8 for children aged 3-5 years old and 1:4 for children aged 2-3 years old.

How do you incorporate technology into your Montessori curriculum?

We believe in a hands-on, experiential approach to learning, and therefore limit the use of technology in our Montessori curriculum. However, we do use tablets and computers as tools to supplement our classroom activities and introduce children to basic computer skills.

Do you offer any after-school programs or extracurricular activities for students?

Yes, we offer a range of extracurricular activities and after-school programs for our students, including yoga, dance, and Spanish lessons. These programs are designed to enrich children's learning experiences and provide opportunities for exploration and socialization.

How do you assess student progress and provide feedback to parents?

We assess student progress through observation and regular assessments of their skills and abilities. We also maintain open communication with parents through parent-teacher conferences, progress reports, and daily updates on children's activities and development.

What is your approach to discipline and classroom management in the Montessori environment?

In the Montessori environment, we believe in fostering self-discipline and promoting a sense of responsibility and respect for oneself, others, and the environment. We use positive reinforcement and redirection to encourage appropriate behavior and address conflicts, and work with each child individually to help them develop their self-regulation skills.

My son has been coming here for 5 months now and he absolutely loves it and he is very well cared for. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that there can be a little bit of differences in the communication sometimes, meaning I can be told face to face what he has eaten/ how he has slept for the day and then what is communicated by the app can sometimes be different. Nevertheless that is minor and would definitely recommend the nursery

Can’t recommend the orange tree enough. The level of care the children receive is exceptional. Our little boy is always happy, fulfilled and comes home full of excitement to tell us of his day. The staff are a true credit to the orange tree. Thank you for being so great with our little boy.

Can't comment on the level of childcare, given that we reserved a place for our child well over a year ago then, received a phone call out of the blue to say that our place was no longer available a couple months before he was due to start. I guess that your reservation contracts and fees hold no weight at all? Every nursery we've approached to find a place at short notice since has been astonished that this is even a situation we find ourselves in - I guess this speaks volumes for the quality of management at this nursery. We've received many contradictory stories for why this has happened from the management, but the truth is there is no excuse. Not sure if it's greed or just incompetence, but either way if you find yourself without family close to rely on and need a guaranteed nursery place them DO NOT use this nursery. (Ps, if I could give negative stars I most definitely would!)
