Friendly team that give the vibe they actually want to be there, great to see. I'm new to the area and needed a new optician. I'm really glad I found Kate's place and didn't run off into a standard chain in York. (Added bonus that you can park just outside for free, try that in York!) This was the most thorough eye assessment I've had in, well, forever. Every detail was explained and was happy to answer any questions. The choice of male glasses look slim at a glance. However, the wonderful dispensing assistant did a superb job of identifying the styles I was drawn to and found me something just right. She then went on to explain all costs clearly and concisely. No hidden costs here. (I regret not remembering her name as she does deserve a mention, sorry 😔) All in all a great experience!

Chapter 1 (before my visit) As someone looking for an Essilor specialist I came across these reviews. Only one was negative reducing the average to 4.8, all others 5 star. The complainant cannot spell his own name or write and punctuate an English sentence. He does not appear to have responded to the owner's very reasonable reply. I shall discount this review! Chapter 2 I now have a pair of Essilor Varilux specs. Fantastic! I have been an Essilor fan for 30 years but all the major opticians in York, my home town, have turned to favouring cheaper brands. I had a pair of Shamir lenses supplied by a York optician but gave up after two unsatisfactory years and travelled out to Easingwold for the nearest Essilor specialist. What many people fail to realise is that the prescription is only half the story and the brand you choose can greatly affect the result. One final caveat. Investigate the frames. I was steered towards a £160 frame but ended up with a £30 which is proving perfectly satisfactory. K.Malyn please don't get a reputation for the hard sell with frames!
