We attended a friend's wedding here and it was absolutely spectacular! An absolutely beautiful house and grounds, a gorgeous outdoor pavilion for the ceremony, loads of space, and very friendly staff. The food was good too. Overall, very impressed and definitely recommended for anyone considering getting married.

I was left seriously unimpressed after experiencing a wedding day menu here on a Saturday evening. This is absolutely not fine dining, far from it. I'd guess that most of the five star reviewers haven't truly experienced what fine dining really is. In fact, a five year old play acting as superman might be closer to reality that The Old Hall masquerading as a fine dining establishment. The very average pumpkin pastry starter was acceptable but it went downhill from there. The main course entailed a chunk of rare, unseasoned venison served on a small crushed potato with a tiny dollop of flavourless berry sauce. It was boring and a real chore to eat. It's quite sad that an animal gave up its life to be consumed in such a fashion. The vegan offering of deep fried tofu in a bowl of salty soy sauce straight from the bottle fared no better. Following that, the small and embarrassingly poor chocolate mousse dessert was easily one of the most boring and tasteless things I've ever eaten. The accompanying scoop of ice cream resembled nothing one would describe as creamy. It's mind boggling how such a simple dessert can be turned into such a tragedy. In the evening, we were offered a tower of dry and bitter chocolate brownies. Not surprisingly, only a few were eaten. There's an art to making good brownies but it wasn't on display here. To finish off, there was also a late night serving of buttered dry bread rolls sandwiching a few scraps of chicken. If I'd paid for this personally I'd be expecting a full refund. Thankfully, the venue itself is stunning and the wedding day was fantastic. It's just a shame that the combined efforts of venue management and kitchen staff allowed such a low standard of food to be inflicted on guests.

Amazing place to stay, everything was immaculate in the Cromwell Suite, plenty of space. The Staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble.
