The lady who served me in the Merrythought shop was extremely helpful and chatty and I was very pleased with my bear purchase. I also visited the antique shop and cafe which had a lovely view over the water. However, my low score has to reflect the overall experience of my first visit which was marred by the £100!! parking fine I received after unknowingly staying a total of 13 minutes over the free parking period. I feel that the private parking company Merrythought Village use for their visitor car park charges a highly disproportionate amount (even taking onto consideration the reduced amount of £60 if you pay immediately) for going a few minutes over time - it's just greedy. Please be aware if you are considering a visit.
