Nice venue and attentive staff, although value for money with out vouchers is questionable for the type of pub food.

Arrived for a family meal of 9 for 2 birthdays. Was not happy at all with service it was 30 mins before we were asked for drinks then my husband didn't have his so we had to ask again for it then at the end they tried to charge us twice as my husband had to ask for it again! Nitemare to get it off the bill! My daughter forgot her ID so couldn't have a drink for her 19th birthday may I add!! The law states if you are eating in a resteraunt with family you are able to have a Alcoholic drink from the age of 16 with parents permission! We had to ask for wine glasses for our bottle of wine and the water glasses were dirty also the bottle the water was served in at the top was rusty.I found the staff were not friendly at all, we arrived before 3 other tables yet they got served first so waited a while and the resteraunt was barely full. There wasn't even toilet roll in the toilets. The food was just ok, we have been here a few times before and had lovely meals and service but we shall never return.

We always adored the Oaken under Sofia’s management but things really took a bad turn when the interim manager started there over 12 months ago. Confrontational, brusk, sweary - that was the style of the interim manager and we haven’t returned since, which is a shame as we always had such a good time there and interactions with the team. We’ll never return but I have every confidence that normal order will be restored.
