I've been coming to the Mayfly for many years and the setting by the river is wonderful. I came for lunch with a friend today. I just wish the menu was as varied as it used to be. Also, we were shocked to see that a service charge, though optional, is now added to the bill. The staff are great but I feel a tip should be up to the individual. However, a very enjoyable afternoon, thank you.

This was the first time we had visited on a Saturday at 12.30 for a 1 pm table and the carpark was full including the overflow, however, parked on a grass area. We sat outside with drinks before going to our table we were treated extremely well. The food was great, crispy prawn starters, fillet steak with bearnaise sauce main followed by my sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream.
