I don't get to this pub often enough, but having been a marshal at Tonbridge parkrun in the morning I decided to swing by as I drove home cross country. A member of staff came to speak to me as I waited for the pub to open, but only to inform me that every table was booked! I went in for a drink at the bar. The pub is very old, the ceilings are very low, and it's in a great location next to a river. And if one is a Man of Kent (born east of the River Medway), it's great to have our own pub 😉

We stopped on the way to Margate looking for a nice lunch. VERY unwelcoming staff and zero attempt to accommodate our party. If you’re passing by - keep going! There are much friendlier places down the road. Too bad zero stars isn’t an option. They made that little effort. Seriously.

Fantastic pub. Was here for a big group birthday dinner. Lovely old building (prepare to hit your head on the low beams!). Excellent food, served with a smile. Well worth a visit.
