An utter butcher. AVOID I was booked in for an ALIF and PLIF (front and back fusion) with Patrick McKenna. My pain was moderate pre-op, so was advised that the above surgeries had a 99% success rate. The side effects were not explained to me yet I seem to have suffered almost every one imaginable. Post-op I was in excruciating pain and had to have around the clock nurse in my room. When I left hospital a week later there was a couple of days I felt better (probably a slow release nerve blocker injection after the op I've now been advised) but within a couple of weeks the pain got increasingly worse and has continued to become unbearable 24 hours a day. I am now 5 years post-op and still in massive pain, taking painkillers pretty much every hour. It has ruined my life & I have been unable to work or sleep properly since. Needless to say, after charging me for further appointments and scans/x-rays etc. Mr McKenna has done absolutely nothing to sort this out, despite many emails and I have been forced to take legal action against him. I have seen several other surgeons since (at other hospitals obviously), and all have agreed that the operation was a failure and several have suggested that some of the metalwork has either moved, causing a piece of my spine to break, or wasn't even put in the right place to begin with! I now have no feeling down my left leg, limited feeling in my right and an ache in my groin like I've been kicked there repeatedly, plus several other side-effects and a massive increase in pain. AVOID THIS BODGER AT ALL COSTS

We met with around 15 consultants total for a disc replacement. Nobody came close to the knowledge of John Sutcliffe and Patrick McKenna. They did an amazing job with the surgery and the whole experience was phenomenal.

Worst after care service I have experienced. My wife is in constant pain ever since having what is clearly a failed procedure and the secretaries are without doubt the most unsympathetic I have ever come across If you want someone to help you get better avoid this clinic like the plague !!

At the London Spine Clinic I have consulted the Podiatrist MR SAJ AFZAL for knee and hip pain, he is very knowledgeable and I have had an excellent experience. He analysed my gait and recommended custom made orthotics. My knee/hip pain disappeared like magic soon after starting to wear my new orthotics, and I have them refurbished periodically as they do wear down after a while. He also recently sorted out the ingrown toenail on my largest left toe, which had been giving me pain off and on for years. I was nervous about the procedure, but it was painless, professional and very successful. My toenail looks as good as before, but now I have no pain. Mr Afzal is very friendly and helpful, as well as an expert in his field, I thoroughly recommend him. MR NIGEL GILDERSLEVE Must also mention Mr Gildersleve, who treated my Plantar Fasciitis in my right foot. I had the problem for 18 months off and on, and it restricted my ability to walk for more than about 15 minutes before it became painful. It was also rather depressing to be so limited in my activities. He treated me with a course of K-laser on my foot, short sessions twice a week for about a month, which amazingly sorted out the longstanding problem which was a great relief. At all times Mr Gildersleve was very personable and helpful, suggesting various exercises that would benefit my foot. He is very knowledgeable and practical, and I would definitely recommend him.
