Two years in waiting but York Proms on Sunday 10 July was definitely worth the wait! The location and weather were perfect and we were treated to some fantastic performances, rounded off with a fabulous firework display. All in all, an absolutely brilliant day. The York Prom is the Goldilocks Prom. Over the years, I have attended quite small Proms and quite large Proms, around England. None of them matches the York Prom. Some of its excellence may arise from the setting, which is exceptional, a great place to be even without a concert in progress. Goldilocks would have been happy there. The Gardens are not too small, and not too large, but just right. That dictates the number of people who can attend: not too few, and not too many, a crowd large and agreeable enough to feel at home with, and not so great as to be overpowering. The organisers are very significantly more thorough and effective than was Goldilocks. The performers are all impressive, and wholly captivating, lifting us to a higher plane. And then, there are the fireworks too. The York Prom is a unique delight and inspiration.

I have been to the first three York Proms, 2017,2018,2019 and they were all fantastic. The organisation, the performers and the stalls all fantastic and regret I was unable to attend this year due to illness but will be back there again next year. I travel up from Bournemouth so you can see I wouldn't do that if it wasn't worth while. Thoroughly recommend to everyone.

What a wonderful night. Being in Museum Gardens is the perfect spot to enjoy this fabulous event. The musical programme was brilliant and the main singers were truly awesome. Privileged to have been to every year the York Proms have been on and hope to go to future ones. A great night for everyone.
