We are The London Chorus, an SATB (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) choir that performs a variety of music styles including classical, contemporary, and musical theater. Our repertoire includes pieces from different periods and genres, to ensure our performances are diverse and entertaining.
How often do you rehearse and perform, and what are the expectations for choir members?
We rehearse every Tuesday evening from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm, and we have several performances throughout the year, including Christmas and summer concerts. We expect our members to attend rehearsals regularly and commit to learning their parts outside of rehearsals. We also expect members to participate in performances and be punctual and professional.
What is the cost to join the choir and are there any additional fees for performances or materials?
The cost to join our choir is £120 per term, with three terms per year. There are additional fees for music scores and concert attire, but we provide a discount for purchasing music scores in bulk. We also offer financial assistance to members who may need it.
What is the process for auditioning and joining the choir, and what level of experience is required?
Prospective members are invited to attend a rehearsal and meet with the choir director to discuss their interests and experience. We do not require a formal audition, but we do expect members to be able to match pitch and learn their parts effectively.
