Perfectly clean and fresh and attractive rooms in an attractive building. Comfortable bed. Great shower. Easy walk into town. Staff friendly but had to wait 15 minutes for someone to arrive at the front desk to check us in. Having a bell might be a good idea. We phoned the hotel a few times to try and get someone to come and answer the phone and therefore check us in!

Didn't like it. Basic, a bit grubby and dull. No options when going for a cooked breakfast. We got given everything. We actually live less than 2 miles away but needed to spend a few days out while we are having our kitchen extension. We thought the lodge at the very exclusive racecourse would be great but overall very disappointed. One evening we arrived back in our room only to be met with a very strong smell of raw sewage. After a quick investigation we determined that it was coming from the loo and sink. The following night was fine but we kept the lid down. Handed in our room key and staff wasn't interested in asking us how our stay was. Had the same reaction with breakfast and we couldn't be bothered tbh. If we were on actual holiday then we would have said something. As it was, we slept there and nothing else.
