while the decor is incredibly ornate and beautiful, the actual food was lackluster. we came for high tea and were surprised at the very limited tea list. while the tower of tears is impressive, many things were just too dense or sugary to eat. we all agreed the smoothie was a highlight, although this is a strange thing to have with tea.

The Malaysian curry tasted like watery, bland tomato soup with 1/4 sweet potato and some bits of vegetables. An insult to Malaysian cuisine. Service was rude too. When paying, the waiter gave me the card terminal to tap my card. The payment was naturally declined by the merchant due to the high amount and therefore required a pin. I put in my pin and paid. As the receipt was printing the waiter implied that I almost couldn't afford the meal and got lucky this time. He didn't say it ironically, he meant it. Why did he as a waiter have the need to imply that young, pretty girls can't afford their meals alone? I guess he didn't see our £20k Birkins under the table. Telling your customers that you think they're broke is unprofessional and rude behaviour to say the least. Firstly, I wouldn't be there to eat their bad food if I couldn't afford it. Secondly, we're in a recession and there are a lot of people who indeed can't afford to buy meals. So even IF it was meant as a joke, you do not joke about stuff like that - especially in a restaurant where the tomato soup curry costs £18. Needless to say we will not come again.
