Firstly, cough, it's not a spa. No sauna, no jaccuzi. Just a very warm and realtively small (but nevertheless clean) indoor pool in a building separate from the hotel. The showers and changing rooms are very basic. No luxury here (anywhere) I assure you. The hotel, well. In the grand former drawing rooms, there is faux antique furniture with chipped edges, chipped and scraped varnish, just not a good look. It wouldn't cost much to sort it out. Also, its just a bit of a mess everywhere. The treatment room is in the lower ground floor and at least the ladies down there know what they're doing, seemingly in their own bubble of calm, quiet professionalism. The food isn't bad ether, though the portion sizes rather paltry. The gardens are beautiful. Overall, don't bother goiing if you want a spa day or spa weekend. You will be disappointed if you're expecting luxury or high standards. One other thing: they charged us £14 for two small bottles of beer. Excuse me? Never again.

We had the spa treatments and cream tea deal. Fabulous staff, from checking in, to the treatments room to the restaurant staff in the conservatory, Great spa treatments for the two of us, within an exceptionally nice atmosphere, and with freshly made scones for the cream tea. Totally recommend. Service : 5/5 | Location : 5/5 … More

Stayed here with my husband and two year old and really enjoyed it. Honestly the first family holiday I've actually felt relaxed after. Very family friendly hotel so we used the hotel's baby monitor during nap time and bedtime so we could hang out downstairs while our son slept. We also loved the pool and our son loved running around the ground. They've thought of a lot to make it an easy experience for parents eg: you can get warm milk sent up to your room for your kid and can borrow their icandy pram to go on any terrain. You also get 90mins childcare included a day which we didn't bother with in the end so I can't comment what that's like. Breakfast it's included and delicious. Lunch is another story and I can see why people who have only come for lunch/afternoon tea have left such poor reviews. Lunch is definitely their worst meal - had the worst sandwich of my life there for £9... Felt really mugged off. Bought a Sainsbury's meal deal for lunch the next day and it was a million times better than what I was served for lunch they previous day at the hotel which really shouldn't be the case. Dinner is better but also extortionate - for example it's about £30 for a quite standard steak and chips. If they want to charge such high prices they really need to offer more... Spa treatments there are ok. Had a pregnancy massage and it was alright, have had much better massages. If I went to the hotel again I wouldn't bother getting treatments. Overall I'm still giving 4 stars because even though the food was extortionate and definitely not worth it and service at times patchy, I still had a great time there and they really have put a lot of thought into making it a family friendly hotel.
