We visited The Huntsman twice during our stay in Brockenhurst, once for afternoon drinks and then again for an evening meal, but we made sure to arrive early for a pre-drink in the lovely garden. The pub was very busy on the Friday night, and the bar staff explained that we’d have to wait a while for cocktails, so we had a G&T instead. However, the speed of service was fine once we sat down for dinner, and the food was excellent. We shared olives and baked halloumi to start, then I had the maple glazed pork chop and my wife had the goat’s cheese pizza. Unfortunately we didn’t have any room for dessert. A special mention for the lovely Portuguese waitress, who couldn’t have been any more friendly if she tried.

Lovely setting and decor both inside and the garden. Our waitress was fantastic, we had an issue with one of the mains but it was rectified immediately and a gesture given as an apology. Really professionally handled. Food was delicious, would definitely return.

When the barman was rude to the lady in front of me, I thought it was a blip. Then the barmaid was rude to me, but I thought maybe it was me just imagining it. Then the waitress looked miserable and actually huffed when I requested we have a drink outside before coming in for our meal… YES, HUFFED!! I was gobsmacked and my friends and I laughed at her rudeness. Then… unbelievably the more experienced maitre d’ actually interrupted me multiple times as I tried to ask a question. At this point, I said that we would be leaving never to return. Not sure what’s going on at this place, but if you do not have good service, you have nothing. Poor leadership maybe. Poor training definitely. Clearly not a nice place to be. Such a shame because it’s a lovely building. AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU ENJOY CIVILITY AND SMILES.

We stayed for two nights, for a quiet getaway. Although we only planned to use the room as a base to explore the New Forest, we ended up spending our evenings in the very lovely bar and restaurant. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive and communication between them all was excellent. Check in and out was flawless. The food we had for dinner, and breakfast, was without fault and reasonably priced. The room was in very good condition, with a wonderful walk-in rainfall shower, Roberts DAB radio and Nespresso machine as standard. Nice little touches definitely made this inn/pub a little gem in a forest full of choice.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had our new born baby with us in a pram and they ensured that we had a comfortable and suitable table with enough room. The food was also fabulous, service was fast and the prices were very reasonable. We will definetly be visiting again!
