The quality care commission have just rated this place inadequate. If you set up a nursing home you have a duty of care to the residents. Stop greedily pocketing money and start providing staff with training and residents with dignity. Absolute sham

My mom is a resident at Highbury nursing home and unfortunately had to go to hospital due to chest pains. The staffs quick response to mom not being well was so good. She has made a good recovery and while in the hospital nursing staff and the opal team commented on how well mom was in her physical appearance from her hair weight and skin to her overall well being. The staff and management at the Highbury are the reason I can sleep at night and have made the very difficult decision to put mom in a nursing home more bearable..

I have worked at Highbury Nursing Home for over 10 years, I am the Administrator and you will find me tucked away in the front office. i use the term 'work' loosely as it is my second home and my family live within it. Every member of staff play's a key part in the functioning of the home, we are like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that all fit together. The 'residents' all have there own personalities and knowing that we can give them comfort and security in the latter stages of their lives gives me a happy feeling inside. We build a strong bond with their families and it has been extremely hard this year not having the contact whilst we've been in lock down. So i have no hesitation in saying how much i love being in a home that is filled with people i care for and that care for me and that I am part of the Highbury family.

I have been part of the care team here for four and a half years and can honestly say that it is my pleasure to work here. All the staff come together to help each other out and we always have the residents best interest at heart in everything we do. It's a safe comfortable environment where the residents truly feel 'at home'. Our attitude is that this is not our work place it it the residents home.

My Nan was only here for a short time but I’m glad she lived her final months in such a caring and person centered environment. The manager and the staff showed compassion, patience and understanding towards my Nan and us when we visited. They even made sure my dog felt welcome too.

I send this message with a heavy heart I am not one for posting messges but after my experirnce today i feel i need to I have read the reviews and I am really pleased that some famlies believe that they are getting the best care for their family members. My Dad is 87 years of age and is so precious to all of the family. I have not commentated before concerning things that happen but today i have to. Unfortunately since May of this year my Dad through ill health has lost 8 stone in weight. He is now five and a half stone and is of significant risk of sepsis and infections. Today we had to contact paramedics as my Dad was showing signs of infection. The paramedics commentated on the lack of basic observations that the Nursing staff had carried out. A Gp was called in order to give my Dad some anti biotics and the staff were advised to make sure that he drank lots of fluids. We phoned at 2100 hours to be told that the GP had given him paracetamol and the care staff stated that because my Dad was running a temperature he had opened his window and taken all of the blankets from him!!!!!!When we asked if they were monitoring my Dad they said they would pop in through out the night if they got chance. They also stated that he hadnt drunk anything since this afternoon. There has been other issues which i will take up with the management but i am quite happy to share them if i dont feel that i get the support my Dad so richly deserves. I am sorry i have had a rant on a review but i really dont think my Dad is receiving the support and encouragement he should be getting from the home. I would ask anybody who has a family member at Highbury to just look a little closer at the care your loved ones are receiving and if you ars happy please let the home know but if you have any concerns I would ask you to share them too.

I find it unbelievable that anyone can post a negative review of this place or staff as our experience has been nothing but positive . Due to failing health my 95 year old mother had to leave her home and we moved her into Highbury I cannot praise the staff highly enough . They have gone to enormous lengths to understand my mothers very specific needs and to ensure she is both happy and healthy . Special mention should be made of Wendy the manager, who has strived to ensure my mother is treated with dignity and ends her days as comfortably as possible . What really impressed us is the high ratio of staff to residents . All of my family would highly recommend this home .
