Myself and my family would like to thank all the staff at The Haven for being so kind, compassionate and supportive, we just wish my grandad had been a resident with you from the start as we know he would’ve thrived.

Despite my concerns and offering the council free places at homes closer to home my dad was given a place here. What can I say unfortunately I agree with many other reviews. Despite myself and his wife being very strict and taking regular lateral flow tests we were denied entry to see my dad due to the last closure to visitors during the latest omicron scare an hour later we had a phone call that he had passed away. This is a year ago but its something I have to live with every day. Denied the chance to say goodbye to a loved one. The worst punishment for a crime not committed. As it wasn't the start of covid measures should have been in practice and in place to let visits happen. Even when i asked about contact through a window I was told he was in a room with no window. How can this be the case surely thats a Health and Safety issue in its self. My dad saw no one for months due to his stay in hospital and then he finally moved into this care home and still he didn't have a hand to hold or a loved ones face to see before he passed away. There was no indication that he was at this stage in life. I have had other relatives in other care homes that recognise the signs and call loved ones to get there. We were there perhaps by coincidence or intuition an hour before but were denied our chance to give comfort, love and goodbyes. Training in compassionate phone calls to nearest and dearest when loved ones pass away is needed. I hope the care home has learnt from mistakes made and other families are feeling positive of what you offer.

Please do not ever send your loved one to this home. The staff are rude and abusive and not allowing window visits. The care plans are not followed and my mum has been treated awfully. Safe guarding is now investigating this home. The CQC have been notified.

Please do not place a loved one in this home! My mothering law was placed here during the 1st lockdown. Since moving here the home has been purposefully obstructive refusing contact, claiming they are always busy. They refused closed window visits and appear to be doing everything they can to avoid my mothering law having contact with her family. The manager is rude, cold, obnoxious and uncaring. My mothering law has lost four stone in weight, has had no glasses for nine months, is not prompted with fluids (always full cups of drinks, untouched) she was witnessed being dragged by her wrists to a sitting position. Despite asking on numerous occasions what she needed no contact from home, in fact in 7months we heard from them twice. When we were finally able to see her two weeks ago she was in clothes with holes in that were far to big and she was extremely distressed. We have found her a new home but Haven are deliberately blocking the move, stating that they have not received the results of two COVID tests in over 8 days, when asked for evidence that they had conducted the test they refused to provide it. Please speak to other families before placing your loved one here, nobody deserves to be treated the way that they treat people. Clearly the problem stems from management. I have given one star because that is the lowest you can give if I could of given lower I would.

Brilliant Home! It has been challenging for us as a family having to put my Grandma in a care home since the loss of my Grandad at the beginning of March! This is the second nursing home my Grandma has been in and the care is beyond comparison. The staff (especially the managers who are terrific, caring and compassionate) understand our anxieties and during these challenging times do the up most best to keep us informed. Although my Grandma has severe dementia they continuously converse with her about her family reminding her of us and treating her with the dignity she deserves. I cannot fault this home, she seems as settled there as she can be. Honestly it does make a huge difference to a family who have been grieving not only for the loss of a Grandad / Dad but for the loss of who my Grandma used to be. It is difficult as dementia takes away the person she used to be and we grieve for that. However she is still with us 🙏 and the home are to be thanked for that. We understand that there will be tough times ahead with my Grandma's condition but we are sure that this home will help us to overcome these times the best they can. Much appreciated. Nicola Davies and Family.

My mom was 'sold' to this awful and anything but 'Haven' nursing home against her and her families wishes. I wouldn't allow a dog to visit this place let alone reside there. In my experience I found the staff uncaring, not interested and obstructive to us. Every day we phoned to try and have some sort of contact with my 94yr old mom and every time we got the bog standard response of 'no one available, try again tomorrow'. We were told by a receptionist we could only have contact with my mom twice a week as they were busy! Not good enough, the people in these homes are elderly, vulnerable and often scared and need contact with their family. From what we saw the food wasn't great and my mom has lost weight in the 5 weeks she was there, and she looks awful. 2-3 weeks ago they lost one of my mom's hearing aids and have made no attempt to find or replace it leaving my mother with no means of communication (can't hear with only one hearing aid as they work as a pair). My mom developed a Sty and again from what we saw of it through the window it was very sore, inflamed and had spread down her face. There is a whole lot more I could say about this dreadful place but we're just so relieved my mom is out of there now (today) and in a lovely nursing home back in Birmingham where her family can have contact with her. I've only given them one star and that's because there isn't anything less than that. I would be very interested to have contact with the owner!
