A mixed picture! The boat is amazing but be wary of the owner. I recently stayed on the boat with my family for my 40th birthday weekend. We hosted a party on it on the Saturday evening, which had been pre-agreed with the owner Andrew. On the Friday morning, Andrew asked me if a cameraman could come on board on the Sunday morning to film the GB rowing team on the Thames. I said that I would prefer not to, since we had paid for the full weekend and wanted to enjoy the time on deck on Sunday morning, and had children on our group which meant I didn't really want people we didn't know on board for safety reasons. Andrew said he was very shocked and urged me to reconsider. At the time, I was busy picking up my children from school, driving up to the boat and unloading all of our belongings, but Andrew pestered us, calling the landline on the boat and my mobile to get me to say yes. In the end, to get him off my back, I decided I would just say yes but before I could do so, he rang me and started having a go at me. I was very shocked and said that I didn't appreciate being spoken to in that way and that I felt he was trying to bully me into it. However I said that because it was my birthday that day and I was trying to enjoy a nice evening with my family, I was prepared to agree to it so we could move on. He continued to shout at me and started saying that we hadn't agreed to a party on the Saturday evening, even though I had a full email exchange in writing proving that we did. It really upset me and ruined my evening, and I thought it was completely inappropriate. My partner was forced to transfer £1000 as a safety deposit, which Andrew had mentioned at the very start of the booking process but never asked me for. The cameraman that came on the Sunday morning was not the one Andrew said it would be and had been sent in place by the agency. He was there for 2.5 hours when Andrew had promised me it would only be half an hour. He took up the main part of the deck, meaning we were not able to use that part of the boat all Sunday morning. When I let Andrew know all of this, (as well as providing the proof that we had pre-agreed the party), I didn't even get a response. I was shocked not to receive an apology or anything. We also then had to chase and chase and chase Andrew for 2.5 weeks after our departure to get our £1000 deposit back. He wouldn't respond to messages, wouldn't answer calls and if we did get through to him, kept fobbing us off. Eventually we did get it back. Despite all of this, we had an amazing time on the Harpy - it's a magnificent venue, in a fabulous location and a real treat to stay on. All of our guests commented on how amazing it was and many were keen to book it themselves for their own private parties/weekends with friends and family. I would definitely recommend it to anyone but would say to be very careful with the owner Andrew, and ensure you have absolutely everything in writing beforehand. Perhaps also book through Air BnB instead of directly so you have that protection too. It is a real shame he treated us the way he did because it was a perfect weekend otherwise!

What an incredible experience to be able to visit London while staying literally on the Thames. Each day we awoke and went to sleep with the most beautiful views of Tower Bridge, imagine Tower Bridge being your night light!! Not only was the location one of a kind, the Harpy had all the accommodations of a top notch hotel. We slept 10 comfortably and never ran out of hot water for showers. Everything you use in your home, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryers, you found easily on the Harpy, there was not a thing missing. This was truly one of the most wonderful accommodations we have ever rented and it was certainly the most unique. Andrew was great. We would love to return some day!
