Staff attentive and food excellent. Very dog friendly but nowhere nearby to walk dog first thing. No dog bins on site. Car journey for Queen Elizabeth Park, which is close. Slightly tired looking premises but clean.

Travelling on our way home from a couple of cold, damp days in Amsterdam. The Hog provided us with a warm welcome and hot warming food for the soul. The staff were attentive without being obtrusive, and the food was superb.

This was my second visit here. Primarily this was for the Kylie tribute act but unfortunately she was ill which was disappointing. However I cannot fault the service and the food and the comfort of this hotel. The rooms are really nice - a good size and very clean. The complementary items in the room are a bit above what you get from the usual hotels - unique coffee bags, a bag of popcorn, a bottle of cider, a can of apple juice and complimentary water. The food is really nice and I would say very reasonably priced. I've paid the same at chain restaurants and been underwhelmed when you compare this to the food at The Hampshire Hog. The staff are very friendly and obliging and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The breakfast was decent and the muesli and porridge options were much better than just having a plain bowl put in front of you. You can also tell that the ingredients are good quality. Only one really really minor issue was the size of the egg portions with the breakfast, a table spoon size portion of scrambled egg and tiny poached eggs, but I wouldn't mark the hotel down on just this aspect. The location is nice, you can't hear the traffic from the A3 in the rooms and even sitting outside it's not too bad. It is an isolated location but a good base for exploring nearby. I do highly recommend this place.
