Intro course - when several seminar leaders in succession repeatedly ask students to describe why they are doing the course it gets to be a bit of a pain. They can perfectly well read our applications beforehand where students describe their reasons. The application forms also asked for emails for sharing yet mine was not shared with anyone as at least 3 of us at the end wanted to, and one of us was going to ask the Guild that we share them. After hearing nothing, when querying this via email, I am told not everyone wants to share their emails. When I responded saying I am referring to those who do, I am ignored. It's nice to see the Guild offering to pay some people's fees due to ethnicity but I feel this could be improved. Instead of turning it into a competition dependent on when you apply, regardless of other circumstances, why not assess all the applications within a set deadline and see which of those ethnic applications need the bursary the most??? That would be even fairer. There are other groups covered by the Equality Act such as disability, and then there are financial circumstances which could be considered.
