FAQ

What is the curriculum and philosophy of your Waldorf School?

At the Greenwich Steiner School, our Waldorf curriculum focuses on nurturing the whole child and developing their academic, artistic, and practical skills. We believe in a holistic approach to education that emphasizes creativity, imagination, and critical thinking. Our philosophy is based on the work of Rudolf Steiner, who believed that education should cultivate a child's unique spirit and potential.

How do you assess student progress and success in your Waldorf School?

We use a variety of assessment methods that are designed to be developmental rather than purely evaluative. Our teachers observe and track student progress over time, using a range of tools such as portfolios, checklists, and narrative reports. We also conduct regular parent-teacher conferences to discuss each child's progress and identify areas for growth.

What extracurricular activities and programs do you offer at your Waldorf School?

We offer a range of extracurricular activities and programs that complement our Waldorf curriculum. These include music, art, drama, eurythmy (a movement art), foreign language, and gardening. We also offer after-school clubs and activities, such as chess, cooking, and sports, that allow students to explore their interests and develop new skills.

How do you involve parents and the community in your Waldorf School?

We believe that parents and the wider community play an important role in supporting our students' education. We have an active Parent-Teacher Association that organizes community events, fundraisers, and volunteer opportunities. We also invite parents to participate in school activities and workshops, and we hold regular parent education evenings to support their understanding of the Waldorf curriculum.

What professional development opportunities do you offer to Waldorf School teachers?

We believe that ongoing professional development is essential for our teachers to deliver the highest quality Waldorf education. We provide regular training and development opportunities for our teachers, both in-house and through external providers. These opportunities cover a range of topics, such as curriculum development, pedagogy, and child development. We also encourage our teachers to attend conferences and workshops to stay up-to-date with the latest thinking in Waldorf education.

OFSTED Recent report states that the management and leadership of this school is unfit and that It doesn’t safeguard pupils’ welfare, health and safety and the school doesn’t comply with the Independent School Standards. We had to deal with this school before the OFSTED report was released and I can state that this is the most shambolic, inconsistent and unprofessional organisation I have come across
