I cannot recommend this school, I would agree with previous comments that the Ofsted review does not reflect the actual experience of students. It has a very bizarre approach to education and care, and has a very closed culture. I am aware in delays in reporting child protection concerns and believe the does not protect children from hard there are serious concerns about the leadership team

I attended this school for a science teaching position but I did not feel very welcome from the moment I walked in. It took me one hour drive to get there but they gave me a quick 5 minute tour of the place by the deputy head and I felt I was being rushed out of the place and was taking up their time. I was made to feel really uncomfortable and wouldn't want to work in a place where staff are not valued or respected. I was not able to speak to any of the students nor did they ask anything about me or showed any interest in me or my teaching background. They didn't even ask me what my name was or introduce me to any of the staff around the school. They need to treat potential candidates for teaching roles with bit more respect rather then judging them on first meeting and should spend time getting to know them and what they can offer to the school.

Please disregard my user name before reading this review. I am a former pupil of this school and I would say to any parent thinking of this place for your child to avoid it like the plague, the staff will blatantly lie to your face and use any means necessary to try and discredit your child's complaint towards them. Regarding their Ofsted reports being rated quite high it is because they'll coach pupils on how to act and behave during an inspection of which during that time any "Problem children" will be taken out of education for a day trip to a local fast food restaurant then hidden away at off site campus in Oakham for the older students. This also applies for when you would go to visit prior to making your decision where to send your child. Onto education, of my time at this hell hole the teachers cared more about what they would have for lunch than how they would educate the class for their lesson. Many a time our lesson would revolve around watching a film for 45 minutes before being moved to a different classroom. The only member of staff who actually cared for the education and well being of the students was Tom Kempin who was the P.E assistant during my stay at The Grange and has now been appointed as the Head master. during my time at The Grange all of the after school staff were distant and uncaring for the needs of the children it was not an uncommon sight to see them sneaking off to the pub across the road leaving us all unattended with only a telephone number to contact them should something serious happen.
