First visit and was really disappointed tbh. We saw the reviews so came for dinner. The menu was very small with not much choice. We had a couple of the nibbles which were ok. The standard bread with a chicken flavoured oil dip and some pork tails that were basically a posh pork scratching. Mains we had the monkfish and a steak. The monkfish was undercooked and was basically fish in parsley sauce, the steak was ok but for £55 I was expecting something excellent and got an ok steak with some pickled onions. Value for money was terrible and sorry but we won't be returning.

We ordered the Sunday roast. The beef and the veggie option, with sides of veggies & potatoes. Everything came out burnt to a black crisp, charcoal coating on everything. The service was also slow, with long waits between visits to take the order, bring the food, clear for desert And wait for the bill. When I asked if the food was supposed to be that burnt, the only response I got was, "Well it's all cooked directly on the fire." So I guess the answer is, "Yes, it's supposed to be that way." We did stay for desert which, along with the cocktails, were quite good.

I had high hopes. 1st we were not greeted by anyone when we entered, it was my friends 40th which I had mentioned during the booking phase...no mention of it. The service was slow both for lunch and for drinks...really slow. If it hadnt been my friends 40th i would have said something, but i didnt want to.spoil the day. My friend does not drink and we asked for non-alcoholic as we were given the two options on the menu, but no creativity to mention there was a bar next door with more options - i only realised when i went to the bathroom. The food was tasty, but I did have to send the pork back as it was very undercooked for my liking (but the chef cooked it abit longer and was fine). But we had to explain 3 times to the server the order and it still came out wrong (we had an extra plate of veg, which we were charged for, but was removed without fuss). The veg and roast potatoes were amazing. The service really let down the experience, the bill came to 180 pounds which for a lunch for 3 people is quite a lot - but I did not feel i had the service that befitted the food. We had 3 different servers throughout the lunch, it was quite fluid which resulted in delay, error and lack of connection with the people. One really good and highly trained server away from being a fantastic place.

Great food with a wonderful cozy ambiance. As soon as you walk in you're greeted with the wonderful smell of the food, instant appetite! Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, also about allergies/intolerances. They took great care of my brothers lactose intolerance and this in turn gives us a relaxed evening haha :) We had (amongst other dishes) the bone marrow, pate and the cote beouf. All great choices! We'll definitely come again next time we're in Leeds. Only "downside" is you need to know where it is or use google maps, on headrow street there's a pass through to the inner courtyard. On the outside you'll only see "FU" signs (one of the other establishments in the same building).
