It was just me in the restaurant I went there around 5pm on a Thursday. Nice calm atmosphere. Let's start off with the good. The crumble desert was excellent and a big portion. The service was good but it was just me in the restaurant so difficult to rate it based off my experience. The main dish was a small portion for the price infact the desert was the same size portion. I didn't find it that amazing it was the Wellington I had. They also don't accept cash either which I find is quite unacceptable. If I had known they didn't accept cash I would have not eaten here. I won't be back.

Went here on a Saturday night - very easy to get a reservation at short notice, and to some extent you can see why. The menu had promise but the food was largely bland. The service also had a slightly cold vibe to it. Artichoke starter was a large blob of tasteless mush with too few bits of toast to eat it with, making it quite a chore to get through. Beetroot mousse was far too sweet. Although I know others in our party really enjoyed feta fritters and the onion tart. Main was an unglazed and slightly burnt veggie wellington, with a fairly bland filling. Dauphinois potatoes tasted like soap (don’t think I’ve had anywhere get those wrong before). Also tried some of the aubergine schnitzel – which is effectively a less pleasant version of a parmigiana. Broccoli side in a sweet soy was tasty. In a city where vegan and vegetarian restaurants are at the forefront of innovation in plant-based cookery, this place tries a more traditional approach and, for us, missed the mark. By no means an awful option, just a bit average and overpriced. Lack of attention to detail in the food. Feels slightly dated.

The starters here are fantastic; we had the courgette flower and the bao and both were very tasty. I found the mains bland, and I was disappointed that so many of the dishes are the same as were being served in December. There's no seasonality and I just don't want root vegetables on a warm day in May. Criminally under-seasoned too. It's the service I have an issue with though, it's just a bit...off. We were asked to move from our table to make space for a group, which was fine- we had finished our food and still had drinks. As we were moving we were tersely told that 'You do only have the table for two hours' as if I had been complaining, it really took my companion aback. I thought it was interesting that the restaurant was happy to take my money right up until the end, but somehow I was at fault. And I was happy to move! The table next to us had been snapped at also, when they asked for the Wifi code ,so at least we all had something to laugh about- they thought the wait-staff's attitude was super odd too. There was one fantastic person, who greeted us and was so friendly, I really wish I had caught her name. I've been to The Gate 5 or 6 times and I won't be going back. I'm not thrilled that I've lost £60 of rewards with no warning and there are so many veggie and vegan options in Marylebone now, there's just no need. I would definitely recommend Mallow in Borough for a far superior plant-based dining experience and much, much better service.

Fantastic food in a very nice atmosphere. I just wish we had taken pictures of the dishes we were served, they were prepared so beautifully - and were delicious to eat. Really first class food, not cheap, but well worth it. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: A fully vegan menu!

(Translated by Google) Last night I was with my family in this vegetarian restaurant, we had a great time. The location is very nice and well-kept, also suitable for couples for a romantic dinner. The staff was very courteous and helpful, the only positive note the white wine was not at the right temperature. I count £50 each just for eating and drinking two bottles of wine in 4. We ate very well, well-finished and good dishes: I recommend polenta stick, wellington, risotto and stuffed courgette flower.
