We decided to treat ourselves on our last night after a wonderful few days away to recharge our batteries. My friend had the Fish and Chips with homemade Tartrate sauce , When the Fish came the look on her face was was a picture ,how on earth would she eat all that, ( but she did) the fish was flaky and white, the batter was light and crisp the tartare sauce was creamy and delicious, I had the homemade Steak and Ale Pie, the pastry was beautiful and light and you could tell straight away it was homemade,, the gravy was rich and the delicious, the large Chunks of Meat just melted in your mouth, It was the best Pie I had tasted in a very long while , And it was a credit to the Chef. Both meals were piping hot, and the Portion sizes were huge, We couldn't fault the Service, Staff were very pleasant couldn't do enough for you. Would highly recommend the Gardeners Country Inn if you are passing call in you will not be disappointed, We certainly will be back The landlady informed us she had only taken over 7 weeks ago , We wish her all the very best.

I had mixed grill, 2 burnt sausages ( and I like them well done), a dried up piece of chicken breast about the size of my thumb, a piece of over cooked steak half the size of a £5 pound note and a piece of tough gammon smaller then the steak and a quarter of which was fat, th peas where in a glass bowl and looked like they had been under a grill,( the top ones all dried up. On the positive side the egg was good as was the tomato. A bit expensive aswell, but where isn't now.

We were on business at Burton Constable Hall and Gardens nearby. The Gardener’s Country Inn is in a beautiful setting surrounded by tall trees. Reminded me of an American Motel in respect of the chalet style layout. Clean, comfortable and thoughtful in terms of bath toiletries, water, coffee and tea. We ate and drank well in the pub and the staff were lovely. Such a change from the corporate Premier/Travel Tavern, et al surroundings. Price was great and I didn’t expect the Ritz and why should I? Definitely recommend.

Waitress was lovely very welcoming. I got the mixed grill and had to get a refund. The chips were hard and undercooked, the gammon was a woeful portion, ordered peppercorn sauce to go with my meal and it arrived 10mins after my food and at a cost of £2.50 which is a joke to be honest. My partner was content with her fish but again the chips were hard and undercooked. Been a couple of times before and to be honest it was better before the new management. Over prices rubbish. Won’t be going again

Been to this pub/restaurant several times and this time I can't help but be disappointed. Usually it's excellent, but this time round it was below its usual standard. The menu has been reduced dramatically and items were unavailable from this reduced selection. The beer is usually very good, however this visit, it was dreadful. Flat and tasteless. Tried two different lagers and they were both poor. Took one of them back and was given an equally disappointing drink. We had extra items on the bill when we went to pay, and this isn't the first time this has happened at this venue. Extra drinks and sundries have appeared on my bill on previous occasions too. The staff are great and attentive and it's got a good kids play area out back. So it's even more disappointing that this visit was sub par. I'll probably give it another shot, but it will be make or break if I do.
