DO NOT buy a car from this place! Sold us a car that had significant damage in line with being in an accident without disclosing this information. The damage was uncovered during the MOT 8 months after purchasing and has cost us thousands to repair, after already paying £6k for the car. Extremely stressful experience and the owner was awful to deal with.

I bought a ford 7 seater car and it got problems with the auto transmission after 33 days. I was told that the warranty is only 30 and it not possible for the refund and they could try to repair it. James was trying to help to fix the issue but unfortunately the issue was not resolved. Had taken the car back to the garrage for couple of times and the issue persist. I am very disappointed because I had to spend another £2600 to rebuild the gear box and the car is running ok now. I know the car is not that worth for the price paid including repairs but I had no other option as I needed a car.

AWFUL experience. Purchased a 2013 Ford Focus in February for £5995. Car advertised as being in good condition, absolutely NOT the case. Within 2 weeks had to return the car to due to wheel alignment being off, damp smell, and mould growing in the boot and above windows in back seat, foot well in rear driver’s side soaked through and USB ports not working. Although inconvenient and disappointing, these things we could’ve forgiven, given James (owner) had been cooperative and we thought the problems had been rectified (without charge). The worst issues came when we had the MOT done in October at the Evans Halshaw Ford Dealership. This uncovered significant damage to the car that looked to be the result of a crash! Total bill was £3265 – with £1915 of this being due the damage caused by this apparent accident - this concerned the coolant radiator, cross member, air con radiator and shutter flap. This was a complete shock given I’d not crashed the car and there had been no mention of the car being damaged or advertised as being damaged. The rest of the charges were to replace all of the tyres, break disks and pads – annoying after 6 months, but obviously can be blamed on wear and tear. £190 was also to replace the wheel locking nut, which again the car had been advertised as having when it clearly didn’t. Was also told by James that the service book for the car was available digitally – however, the employee from Ford informed me this is not the case and the car is too old to have a digital service book. I contacted James to advise him of the result of the MOT and the unexpected damage. James advised that they don’t buy damaged cars and that he was currently away, but to send across the Vehicle Health Check report (VHC) as well as the video demonstrating the damage that Evans Halshaw had provided. Weirdly, he refused to provide his email address for this and requested we communicate via text. Sent the evidence over and clarified to James that I did not consider the standard wear-and-tear to be his responsibility, but that the damage to the front of the vehicle must have been present when the car was purchased as I have not crashed the car at any point. I told him that I would get the MOT work done and he replied ‘When you have that done I can have a look at the other issues’. We then agreed that I would bring the car to his garage the following Monday, however he was not there and the mechanic advised nothing would be done until he was back (possibly in 2 days). I sent James a message to express my disappointment that he was not and asked that he confirm whether he would be back at the garage on Wednesday. The text went unanswered. The next day, I called James. As soon as I referenced the repairs, he very quickly became argumentative - saying he didn’t agree to do any repairs on the car, he’d only agreed to look at it and that he didn’t need to be there on Monday for that – although in his previous message he specifically said he himself would look at it. James was extremely hostile, stating that you wouldn’t expect the owner of Hyundai to be present when receiving repairs at a Hyundai dealership, so we shouldn’t expect the same in this situation (laughable). He ended the phone call by saying he’d send us the number for ‘Lawyers For You’ and we can arrange with them to bring the car back in. Since then, there has been no contact. As if all of the above wasn’t enough – fast forward three weeks and the damp and mould is back in the same spots as before, meaning the car must have never been fixed all those months ago! James has misled us on numerous occasions and after initially agreeing to look at the damage to the car, became extremely uncooperative and unpleasant. Fair to say ‘The Garage Car Sales’ is a sham of a business and we have reported to Trading Standards accordingly. To anyone who is debating buying a car from James, don’t do it – as it could cost you thousands as well as causing a whole load of stress!
