I've known about this gallery for many years but didn't visit until this summer when doing personal research around Saffron Walden. The gallery holds the most amazing collection of Edward Bawden and Eric Ravilious art. In fact it is packed with so much it is a little overwhelming. I spent a couple of hours on a warm day and found it difficult to spend any more time in there as I couldn't breathe very well. I will certainly go back and choose a cooler day and spend time absorbing all the beautiful things they have to show... It is very inspiring and just amazing that all the work relates to the countryside around Saffron Walden.

I knew nothing about this gallery and the Great Bardfield artists group until my friend encouraged me to visit. I was not disappointed. The artwork of lettering, lino prints, wood engravings, ceramic decoration has something for anyone who enjoys art and the use of different techniques. It's a small gallery but packed with interest. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The attached gardens were delightful. We spent a magical afternoon.

We made a pilgrimage to this gem of a gallery in the picturesque town of Saffron Walden, while visiting Essex to see family. It may only be one room and an annexe but it contains a trove of works by Edward Bawden, Eric Ravilious and other Great Bardfield artists. My highlight was a collection of woodcuts by Ravilious. The volunteers were extremely welcoming to our family. A very memorable visit.
