FAQ

What is the teacher-to-student ratio in your Montessori classrooms?

At The Fruit Tree Day Nursery, we maintain a low teacher-to-student ratio to ensure that each child receives individual attention and care. Our ratio is typically one teacher for every 8-10 students.

How do you incorporate technology into your Montessori curriculum?

While we prioritize hands-on learning, we also recognize the importance of technology in today's world. We incorporate technology into our Montessori curriculum through the use of age-appropriate educational software and interactive whiteboards, which help students develop their computer skills.

Do you offer any after-school programs or extracurricular activities for students?

Yes, we offer a variety of after-school programs and extracurricular activities for our students, including music lessons, dance classes, and sports teams. These programs are designed to enhance each child's education and provide opportunities for them to pursue their interests and passions.

How do you assess student progress and provide feedback to parents?

We assess student progress through a combination of observation, formal assessments, and student work portfolios. We provide regular feedback to parents through parent-teacher conferences, progress reports, and informal check-ins. Our goal is to keep parents informed and involved in their child's education.

What is your approach to discipline and classroom management in the Montessori environment?

Our approach to discipline and classroom management is based on Montessori principles of respect, responsibility, and cooperation. We emphasize positive reinforcement and encourage students to take ownership of their actions. We also work with students to develop conflict resolution skills and promote a peaceful classroom environment.

The staff are great, they really spend time helping the kids. It's clean & they teach basic skills like handwashing, tidying up after each different session. The kids have different things to do (I.e. one section painting, another one play doh or water play, an area for home skills, an area for cars, planes, dinosaurs. ) they go out to the garden etc. They really try to stimulate the kids and are so patient, kind and all round trying to prepare them for school. They send home a report every day with what your child has done/engaged in, what they've eaten, snacks, meals etc., also toilet reports. My grandson has come forward in leaps and bounds. Thoroughly recommend.

Unfortunately I would not recommend Fruit Tree at all after a year there. Montessori is an overstatement, their approach with kids is really not Montessori, a little of free flow but even this was limited. Some of the staff are delightful but there is a huge issue of communication between rooms, with management and with parents...our emails all through the year were repetitively ignored and important aspects of our son's development not followed on. They seemed to avoid most proper conversations with parents, which we realised after being in a new nursery was not right and it made us questioned the level of care and attention the kids get there. A lot of improvement to be considered...

Our son has attended the nursery for over a year, and he loves loves loves it there. Genuine delight to watch him eagerly go to nursery every day. It is only possible through the tireless efforts of the wonderful fruit tree team to make it a second home for the children there. Could not recommend the nursery more to fellow parents.
