Me and my friends heard great things about this pub and since it was in the local area, we finally decided to visit. Completely disappointed. The worst part was the atrocious customer service. We first went to order drinks, and the woman at the bar cut my friend off mid sentence and said 'The man behind is ordering first'. We were confused but waited until after he had ordered. She then poured my friend what must have been the final dregs of the coke. It tasted disgusting and was more a beige colour than a light brown. The waiting times were AWFUL. We were told it would be an hour wait despite it not being that busy. We were never asked if our food was okay, if we needed anything else like condiments etc. This is basic customer service in the UK. We were all massively disappointed. As someone who is usually quite easily pleased, I'm surprised to be writing this review. The food was okay, the drinks were not and the customer service is what let everything down. Only positive was the interior and the surrounding views. Plenty of other pubs with much better service and food.

Marvellously updated heritage pub on the canal front in newtown. Great location, great interior, smart choice in beers ( Victoria malaga, Brooklyn pils ) well worth a trip out. I visited in the evening so no idea on food but I'll go back for sure. Perfect for summer beers. Recommended.

Reservation made and confirmation email received. On the day of reservation, we arrived at the pub to find it closed, we rang them and they answered saying the pub was closed due to gas issues, all reservation customers had been contacted, well we hadn't received a phone call or email to notify us, we booked this weeks ago and it was for a family birthday, very annoying indeed!

Lovely location, along the river Kennet with seating out the front facing the river or in the rear garden with beach huts and extra tables. They sell home made cakes, curries and other food too. The Thai Red chicken curry is so good, freshly made paste that morning so it was very spicy but I was offered extra coconut cream to cool it down, such a big portion with loads of chicken. They do a prawn curry too with absolutely masses of prawns so they are really good meals! The Moroccan stew was good, very liquid but very tasty, the Turkish meatballs are really tasty with a tomato based sauce and rice. The carrot cake was amazing and we got a massive slice! The Mediterranean vegetable pizza with caramelised onion was massive and so good! The toilets are not the best, the hand dryer is far too high on the wall so the water can drip up your arm as you use it if you are not that tall, plus the air blows in your face while using it, but if you stand to the side it is easier. Other than that they are clean and tidy. Very friendly staff and amazing decor too! Would definitely go again!
